WAPPA Awarding Process
WAPPA Awarding Process

The West Africa Power and Petroleum Awards (WAPPA) will be given out based on a competitive process that will utilize the knowledge of an impartial panel of recognized energy experts from the West African sub-region.

The WAPP Secretariat will access, before submitting to the 9-member WAPPA Awarding Council for scoring, all applications and nominations. This assessment is to ensure that submitted entries adhere to the established criteria for respective categories. All relevant information on the nominees must therefore be submitted for consideration.

The Awarding Council will then evaluate award nominees using benchmarks established for respective award categories and verify submission details through site visitations.

The validation and collation of results will be carried out by an independent auditor - the only entity to know the final results ahead of the gala event.

Award Winners will only be declared at the West Africa Power and Petroleum Awards event. The shortlisted candidates must therefore attend the awards ceremony which will be held in Accra, Ghana, in September 2024.
